INTRODUCTION TO BURNING FEET

Burning feet is a common foot complaint among many groups, most commonly in the older group over 50 years of age. There are many different causes of this condition. • Athletes foot can sometimes spread to cause burning sensation on the sole of the foot.
• Allergic reaction to shoe material or socks.
• Alcohol is also a contributing factor. Long term use can affect the nervous activity of the feet.
• Diabetes
• Smoking
• Neuroma. A trapped nerve can lead to a hot burning sensation.
• Gout can cause a burning sensation on the side of the foot.

TREATMENT OF BURNING FEET

• Buy shoes and socks that have adequate ventilation.

• Reduce alcohol and smoking consumption.
